- This cover is still in distribution today, which is actually more a testament to Gary P. Nunn's staying power rather than my design skills.
- I used texture in the painting to create the text effect. This would be simple in Photoshop now, but required a lot more effort in the early version I had at the time.
- A promotional cover. All I had to work with was a single black and white photo, and I created extra borders, graphics, and textures.
- The painting for this cover was lovely but massive, requiring me to scan in it multiple passes, then reassemble in Photoshop.
- The client provided a stark line art image, which I turned into a textured map.
- The scanner I had added a red color cast to everything. That was especially tricky to correct on this image's blue and white tones.
These were all done many years ago, early to mid 1990s. My design skills have improved dramatically, as have the available tools and software. But I have a fondness for them, and I had to figure out a lot of workarounds based on the limits of the technology of the time.
